My Dent U.K. Road Trip!
Welcome to my UK roadtrip website. I wanted to put this out there so that everyone can find out how much fun a roadtrip through a country you don’t know about can be. Getting lost through all the ins and outs of the UK back country was one of the best experiences I have ever had.
My name is Dawn Black and I am a student at the University of Wisconsin. Last summer, I took a trip through the United Kingdom with my best friend Anna Miller and we had the best time ever just going from town to town on our way from St. Stephen to Dent, UK.
I spent the next few months doing a study abroad program in Heathrow, but Anna didn’t get to stay in St. Stephen Dent very long. Once we arrived in Dent, her cousin came and picked us up because he lives in England for work. Anna stayed for about 2 weeks after the road trip from St. Stephen to Dent, which was really fun. Nothing I did for the rest of the semester was anywhere near as fun as going to Dent, but don’t take my word for it, get out your passport and find out for yourself!
According to Google Maps, it was only supposed to take about 4 hours to complete the trip from St. Stephen to Dent, UK, but with how much we got lost, wandering around through the towns and taverns, it actually ended up taking us about 4 days to get from Stephen to Dent. We saw the most amazing things along the way! The buildings reminded me of my hometown in Greenwich Village, and Anna thought so too.
We stopped in several towns along the way to take in the countryside and enjoy the food and drink of the locals. We ate so much food and drank a lot of heavy beers on our travels, and I think if it weren’t for all the walking we did along the way, we both would have gained a lot of weight! Anna and I decided that the residents of England drink so much warm beer because it is already so cold there! I wish I had more pictures to put on the site, but I lost about half of my pictures when I got back to Wisconsin because my dog ate my SD card. Since I don’t have many pictures left, you are just going to have to go there yourself and see how amazing it is! Each page of this site is dedicated to one of the towns where we stopped. This was seriously the experience of a lifetime.
By the time we got to Stephen Dent, I was sad the roadtrip was over. From Dent we ended up getting picked up by Anna’s cousin Christopher who lives there and taken back to Heathrow. That was fun too, but Chris was kind of a drag on our “Thelma and Louise” theme.
I hope you get a kick out of this page. If you’ve never had a chance to visit St. Stephen, it’s a great place to start a European vacation. I highly recommend it. Save your money no matter how long it takes and get to the UK!
